1873-1880 Humble Beginnings
The demand for a library was apparent in Spokane during the city's earliest beginnings. In 1873 before a formal library was built, Mrs. Cannon, an early settler to Spokane loaned books from her small book collection to the Native Americans and the settlers of Spokane.
